Dean Maddalena
Dean founded StudioSIX5 in 2003 with the intention to elevate the design discourse for senior living communities. He is a licensed architect with over 35 years’ experience in the interior design industry, primarily focused on all facets of senior design for all levels of care throughout the United States and Japan. His passion extends to product design, where many products that may meet the ergonomic needs of seniors lack the design attention the market craves. Dean has helped raise the bar, working with leading manufacturers on furniture, flooring and technologies with applications that reach beyond the senior living market. He is a thought leader in the industry, frequently asked to speak at conferences and workshops, serve on judging panels and contribute to industry podcasts. His design success has been recognized with awards from the American Institute of Architects, NAHB, Environments for Aging and Starnet, to name a few. Most recently, Dean received a United States patent for frame and collage, digital information systems created for resident socialization and engagement. His main ambition, always, is to celebrate the lives of seniors and their families.
