Message from Carl: Welcoming 2026 with 20 Years of Stance
As we ring in another new year, we’re also celebrating a major milestone here at Stance: Our 20th anniversary! Since 2006, Stance Healthcare has challenged the status quo by designing healthcare furniture to higher standards as part of our mission of Improving Lives by Design. What began with a reimagining of the metal-frame seating category for healthcare spaces has grown into something much bigger. Over the past two decades, we’ve continued to elevate the waiting experience while thoughtfully expanding into dozens of additional product categories, a deliberate journey that has led us to offering the industry’s broadest portfolio of healthcare furniture.
The competitive landscape has changed much since our early days. We have seen many commercial furniture companies enter the healthcare space by re-branding commercial furniture products as relevant to healthcare. Stance is different. Healthcare isn’t a sideline for us; it’s our origin story, and our sole focus to this day. Our unwavering focus on the healthcare experience—and how thoughtful furniture design can enhance that experience through comfort, durability, and aesthetics—is what continues to set Stance apart. As we look ahead, this focus will continue to guide our journey.
“Improving Lives by Design” isn’t just a tagline. It reflects the impact of our first 20 years. From the waiting room to the patient room to everywhere in between, we create products that offer support to patients, caregivers, and visitors—while also benefiting the communities and partners we serve through bold generosity and ambitious sustainability standards.
Early on, we recognized the growing need for furniture designed specifically for Behavioral Health (BH) environments. In our early years in business, as demand for mental health services increased year over year, our team immersed itself in understanding the unique challenges of these spaces. That commitment has ultimately led to an industry-leading Behavioral Health offering of products designed to safely support healing in high-use, high-need environments. From our rotationally molded products to our cozy yet durable lounge collections, our BH products bring residential appeal, comfort and humanity where it’s often least expected.
Our deep focus on the healthcare experience has also inspired our designers to think beyond convention. Nearly a decade ago, Suzanne Fawley reimagined the healthcare drum table by replacing traditional laminate with a more durable flooring material—resulting in Resilia, our first of many Nightingale-award winning products. Most recently, Cesar Fernandes created the Lotus Collection from primarily post-consumer HDPE plastics, repurposing everyday items like milk jugs and detergent bottles, into a highly sustainable collection that supports a circular economy. Lotus earned Most Sustainable Product at the 2024 Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo, along with additional HCD Nightingale Gold and Innovation awards.
The industry’s response to our work over the years has been highly rewarding. To date, Stance has earned 11 industry awards, and our products have been featured in publications including Healthcare Design, Delve, Healthcare Business Today, and HCO News.
But beyond the recognition, something even more meaningful has defined our journey: our people. Through ongoing fundraising efforts and material donations, we’ve given generously to community organizations and facility partners. Generosity is a big part of who we are, and over the next 20 years, we plan to double down on that commitment.
Through growth, change, and challenge, one thing has remained constant: exceptional customer service. We’ve always strived to be easy to work with. We bring deep industry knowledge and are known for being responsive, nimble, and genuinely caring—even in the face of uncontrollable market forces like pandemics or tariffs.
With so much to reflect on, there’s even more to be excited about as we look toward the next 20 years. Beginning next month, we’ll be sharing memories from our journey along with news about what’s ahead, and we invite our team and partners to celebrate #20YearsofStance with us, both in person and virtually.
I look forward to sharing more. For now, happy 2026, and thank you, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, for the role you are playing in our mission of Improving Lives by Design.
Warmly,
|
