Stance Healthcare’s Lotus Wins 2024 Most Sustainable Product at Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo

While many in the furniture manufacturing industry widely communicate the importance of sustainability, our Stance team represents one company that takes this commitment to heart in everything we do. Recently, we were honored for our Lotus collection to be awarded Most Sustainable Product at the 2024 Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo!

This major industry award win signals that the industry at large not only notices, but appreciates Stance’s deep focus on making products that use eco-friendly materials, are constructed through sustainable manufacturing practices, and last longer for end-users. This is a high-visibility platform for both our Lotus product and Stance, as this year’s symposium marked just our second appearance at the symposium – a go-to event for healthcare environment professionals, offering networking, innovation showcases, and insights into design, construction and management.

The event’s annual Symposium Distinction Awards program recognizes design teams, projects and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the healthcare design industry. Perfect for the Sustainability award category, our Lotus collection for Behavioral Health, made from recycled materials, tells a natural sustainability story, from its creation to its long-lasting impact in Behavioral Health environments.

Lotus is crafted with a commitment to eco-friendliness, utilizing recyclable materials that reduce the strain on our planet’s resources. The use of recycled plastic boards, primarily post-consumer HDPE plastic from items like milk jugs and laundry detergent bottles, minimizes waste and promotes a circular economy by repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. Lotus aligns with industry environmental certifications and standards, and complies with USGBC LEED requirements, meeting the criteria for materials originating from post-consumer waste.

“We designed Lotus around how to improve Behavioral Health environments, resulting in a collection that adds a touch of warmth, comfort and safety for patients, visitors, and care providers,” says Cesar Fernandes, Stance’s Design and Development Manager.

The name Lotus is itself reflective of the strength of sustainability: the Lotus is a resilient flower that thrives even in the harshest conditions. It serves as a powerful symbol of renewal with their reawakening each morning and represents the ability to overcome adversity and emerge from darkness into beauty amidst life’s challenges.

In addition to showing the Lotus bed, bedside and wardrobe, our Stance team was also proud to exhibit additional new releases including our Podium, Abrazo and Flo Lounge seating collections at this year’s event. We are already looking forward to the 2025 Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo in San Diego. Hope to see you there!
